Registration is now open for Lafayette: The Road to Revolution, our special 15-day journey through France and Spain marking the 250th anniversary of Lafayette’s departure for America.
Space on the trip is limited, and reservations will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to join us are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
The journey has been created in partnership with Bacchus & Clio and will include exceptional access to places closely connected with Lafayette’s life and legacy.
Highlights include:
* Exclusive access to Château de la Grange-Bléneau, Lafayette’s beloved private residence
* Private visits to the Châteaux de Chastellux and Vollore, including encounters with Lafayette’s descendants
* A visit to Chavaniac-Lafayette, his birthplace
* A commemorative ceremony in Pasaia, 250 years after his historic departure
* A private after-hours visit to the Palace of Versailles and access to the Versailles Municipal Library
* A wreath-laying ceremony at Picpus Cemetery
* Visits to Toulouse, Le Puy-en-Velay, Bayonne, San Sebastián and Bilbao
* A Seine cruise, historic meals and special celebrations throughout the journey
* A potential visit to L’Hermione, pending final confirmation
Dr. Iris de Rode will accompany us throughout the journey, sharing insights from her groundbreaking research into more than 6,000 pages of previously unpublished Lafayette manuscripts. Many AFL members will also recognize her from Ken Burns’ The American Revolution.
