This program explores the life of the Marquis de Lafayette, from his early years in the French court to his heroic role in the American Revolution. The show alternates between captivating historical narrative and live musical performances on the violin and hammered dulcimer, featuring songs from both from the American and French Revolutions, as well as compositions created specifically for Lafayette’s triumphant return to the United States in 1824-25. The performance also includes a poignant World War I anthem, “We’ll Pay Our Debt to Lafayette,” underscoring his enduring legacy. With the addition of Lafayette, the program brings both music and history together in a heartfelt tribute to this French-American hero.
