The Waterbury Historical Society will greet Lafayette at the home of Governor Ezra Butler, where Lafayette stopped briefly in 1825. Butler succeeded Governor Van Ness in 1826, but was a friend and an influential member of the Vermont House of Representatives when Lafayette and Van Ness stopped by. Ezra and his daughter Fanny will toast the General, and there will be information about the visit, baked goods, and era-appropriate libations.
