Parade and Events on The Morristown Green @Park Place

The celebration begins at noon with historical, lineage and community partners set up to meet with the public. Featured activities include photo ops with Lafayette, Alexander Hamilton and George Washington at the Alliance statue.

There will be children’s activities and crafts along with patriotic music.

A regimental parade with Lafayette begins at 12:45 with cannon fire, bell ringing, patriotic music by the Colonial Musketeers Senior Ancient Fife and Drum Corps and salutes to the General. There will be a reenactment of the welcome ceremony which took place 200 years ago. Ned Hector, a black Revolutionary War soldier, will comment on the Battle of Brandywine where Lafayette fought and was injured.

Members of the Baroque Orchestra of NJ will perform the world premiere of the “Lafayette Suite” by composer Robert Butts, a piece commissioned in honor of the Bicentennial Farewell tour.

Visitors will be able to view a display of historic flags, and veterans of all wars in attendance will be recognized and honored by the General. There will be food trucks and free ice cream samples.

If time allows, visitors to the area may stop by Morristown National Historical Park to view a Lafayette exhibit at the museum at 30 Washington Place-open 10 to 4. There is also the opportunity to view the Lafayette Pop-Up Museum at nearby 51 South Street featuring art and objects associated with Lafayette-open 11 to 5.

All activities are free and open to the public.
